Allen is the Principal Consultant for the Simulation & Business Optimisation team. He has over 17 years of experience in the strategic development, planning, dynamic modelling, and holistic economics optimisation of complex, multi-modal transportation networks globally. Since joining Ausenco in 2007, Allen has held a variety of roles, including Director and Senior Project Manager. In these positions he led teams of professionals to optimise our clients’ complex, multibillion-dollar value chains.

In his time with the Simulation & Business Optimisation team, Allen has managed and provided technical reviews for over 100 studies. His strengths include offering technical leadership, economic insights, and stakeholder engagement strategies, supporting project planning and design with genuine care for clients and understanding of their multi-faceted challenges.

Allen’s experience spans numerous projects, both past and present. Notably he was the principal consultant for the Canadian Pacific Railway’s CP Logistics Park: Vancouver Rail Simulation Study in 2021. In this role, he led the analysis of seven million historical data entries detailing locomotive movements in the lower mainland of British Columbia. This effort resulted in building and calibrating a first-of-its-kind regional rail network simulation model, which quantified the CO2 reduction attributed to a proposed new railyard. In 2024, Allen is now leading the simulation and economic optimisation of a South American iron ore producer’s supply chain expansion to 50 Mt/y with a strategy estimated to save more than $1 billion USD in net present value (NPV).

Allen holds an Engineering Physics degree and a Master of Business Administration in consulting and strategic management from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
