Allen is an Senior Simulation Consultant for the Transportation & Logistics Simulation team. He has over 15 years of experience in the strategic development, planning, dynamic modelling, and holistic economics optimisation of complex, multi-modal transportation networks globally. Since joining Ausenco in 2007, Allen has held a variety of roles, most recently Director where he was responsible for the 13-person Simulation business line’s P&L, strategy, marketing, and business development in addition to optimising multibillion-dollar value chains.

In his 13 years with Ausenco’s Simulation team, Allen has managed and provided technical review of 100+ studies. His strengths lie in offering technical and client-facing leadership to support project planning/design through his understanding of clients’ complex businesses.

Allen’s experience can be felt on numerous projects past and present including:

  • Canadian Pacific Railway, CP Logistics Park: Vancouver Rail Simulation Study, Canada: Principal Consultant (2021). Led the analysis of 7 million historical data entries detailing locomotive movements in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, to build and calibrate a first-of-its-kind regional rail network simulation model and quantify CO2 reduction attributed to a new railyard being proposed.
  • BHP Billiton, Jansen Potash Project, Canada: Cost Estimate Risk Analyst (2017). Evaluated the probability and risk distribution for the Jansen Potash Project’s marine terminal capital cost estimate. Leveraged automated Monte Carlo simulation technology to produce a 10,000-run sample size that improved precision in addition to the achieved accuracy requirements.

Allen holds an Engineering Physics degree (Mechanical Engineering specialization) and a Master of Business Administration, Consulting and Strategic Management degree from the University of British Columbia.
