Ian is a degree-qualified mechanical engineer with an MBA and 23 years of experience in engineering project delivery. He has worked within the mining and manufacturing industries, both in consulting and with original equipment manufacturers. His experience covers a range of products and services, including underground mobile mining machinery, materials handling infrastructure, and rail vehicle manufacturing. Ian has been involved in all engineering aspects, from concept design to commissioning.
Ian's career started with developing designs for underground mining equipment, from 3D modelling and simulations to creating detail drawings, fabrication oversight, and commissioning. Following this, Ian gained experience in the manufacturing industry, being responsible for developing manufacturing processes for passenger and freight rail vehicles. He later moved into materials handling systems and became a product specialist for train loading systems with a global manufacturer. Throughout his career, Ian has been able to spend time on mine sites in many different countries to understand the client's needs and challenges.
Joining Ausenco in 2022 as the Lead Mechanical Engineer in the Newcastle office, Ian's leadership and management skills were quickly recognized. He was promoted to the Manager, Engineering role in 2023, taking on the responsibility for the NSW engineering team. Since then, Ian has successfully managed and delivered projects for clients across NSW, demonstrating his ability to lead and deliver results.
