I enjoy working collaboratively on projects, achieving good outcomes for our clients, stakeholders, and the local community.

John has almost 30 years of experience in mining, refining, and minerals processing, including work through the study, basic and detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and operations phases. His experience includes small, low-cost improvements to several large, billion-dollar-plus projects. John began his career in refinery maintenance and operations before working in design and a variety of project roles as both the client and the service provider. He has lived and worked in several countries including Ireland, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, Canada, USA and Peru.

John has held various roles over the past 14 years in Ausenco, including Principal Engineer, Engineering Manager; Commissioning Manager; Study Manager and Project Director. He was the client’s Engineering Manager for Marcobre’s Mina Justa copper project in Peru, from 2012 to 2017. This project required a lot of effort to ensure its viability and, at the time of writing, is under construction.

John had a lead role in the Rio Tinto, Kestrel Mine Extension underground coal mine project in Australia from 2009 to 2011. He was initially seconded to the client with a small team of three site supervisors. This work later developed into Ausenco taking on the overall Project Management role for the $2+ billion project. He is currently Ausenco’s Study Manager for Buenaventura‘s San Gabriel underground gold mine in Peru.

John obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick (Ireland) and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland (Australia).
