José Miguel is a civil engineer with over 14 years of experience in the design of heap leach pads for different types of ores, including copper, uranium and gold. He has led numerous international pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for heap leaching, including studies in remote locations in Niger, Mongolia and Siberia.

José Miguel was the lead civil engineer in the study performed for AREVA, where he was tasked to complete the preliminary design of the leach pads and dumps of the Imouraren project. In Chile, he has worked on various projects, most notably the Collahuasi mine and the Escondida mine, where he participated in the design of the collection systems and drainage systems for the second level of the oxide leach pad expansion.

One of José Miguel's latest roles was engineering manager for the Antofagasta Minerals Encuentro project where he was involved with the feasibility and detail design stages.
