Luiz is a mechanical engineer specializing in mechatronics engineering. He brings over 20 years of experience working on the different phases of the commissioning process and has in-depth experience delivering the major milestones within each phase.
Luiz’ commissioning career began in 2002, working on the Sossego Project in Brazil. He then worked on the Spence project in Chile, the BGM project in Australia and many other projects. His work has taken him internationally where he has been involved in the commissioning of projects of various sizes.
Within the mining sector, he has been involved in the commissioning of copper, gold, silver, lead and lithium plants. One of his most inspiring projects was the San Cristobal Project in Bolivia, located high in the Andes. Here, he learned the value of good teamwork, communications, and working towards clearly defined goals. He has held numerous commissioning roles including Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, Systems Integrator, Commissioning Manager and Operational Readiness Engineer.
Luiz embraces new technology and is always seeking to find the best solution for the client. Technology can simplify work and speed up the process. For example, at one of his work sites he introduced the use of digital test forms that could be easily filled in and issued immediately for approval.
Luiz is passionate about working in teams composed of people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds. Diversity brings new perspectives and increased creativity for problem solving. Luiz enjoys nothing more than meeting the challenging delivery goals of his commissioning projects on time, and safely.
