Manuel is a mechanical engineer based in Peru, with over 35 years of experience in the development of major engineering and construction projects globally working for both mine owners and engineering consultants. Manuel rejoined Ausenco in 2022 as Director of Projects in Peru and oversees the development and fulfilment of local projects, as well as facilitating support to the Business Development team, and actively participating in the review of proposals.
Manuel has proven experience in all phases of a project; from pre-feasibility studies to detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up to operations. In addition, he has held strategic positions as Operations and Business Development Manager, Project Development Manager, Projects Director, and VP for leading mining companies.
Some of the most emblematic mining projects in which Manuel has participated include the implementation of the HPGR equipment within the plant design of the Cerro Verde Project of Freeport-McMoran, located in Peru, this was the first copper project in the world that successfully implemented this equipment. Another project where his leadership capacity stood out was in the development of the Ad Duwayhi Gold Project in Ma'aden, located in the desert of Saudi Arabia, where more than 120 km of road and 420 km of water pipelines were built.
Manuel's leadership skills have been developed by leading field and design engineering teams, and construction and maintenance contractors with a wide demographic and cultural diversity. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada (PEO) and in the Corporate Governance Institute (CGI) in Dublin, Ireland.
Manuel holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Engineering in Peru and holds an MBA from IE Business School in Spain. He also holds international certifications in project management, mergers, and acquisitions.
