As a Senior ESG Specialist, Mariel is responsible for performing ESG and Sustainability analysis and solutions as well as supporting internal and business development teams by providing expert input to ever-evolving ESG tools, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
Mariel holds an undergraduate diploma in Social Communication Science from Universidad Austral Argentina and an MBA from Universidad Católica Argentina and has experience leading diverse and interdisciplinary teams on complex oil and gas and mining project activities. She has extensive knowledge in producing sustainability implementation plans, social engagement mechanisms, roadmaps, and reports and identifying investor and stakeholder disclosure expectations and ESG-related trends in the resources industry.
She has a solid understanding of United Nations sustainable development goals and sustainability reporting frameworks and guidelines, such as GRI, TCFD, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, Global Compact Communication on Progress, ISO 26.000, towards sustainable mining, IFC standards, SASB and OCDE business guides. Mariel represented the Argentinian Oil and Gas sector in the development of national and international sustainability documents and strategies, such as ISO 26.000 social management standards, UN Global Compact-related studies, and the creation of a sustainability assessment methodology for cities and regions linked to the oil and gas industry to successfully coordinate social investments between companies and the public sector.
