Pedro brings 25+ years of experience developing large mining projects. His geotechnical experience is focused on mining infrastructure, including evaluation and design of facility foundations, waste rock dumps, tailings deposits and leach pads. As Principal Geotechnical & Tailings Engineer based in our Lima office, Pedro provides support to the multidisciplinary teams within the Geotechnical group on the development, management and review of engineering projects and proposals. He has performed various studies, from conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and basic and detailed engineering studies.
Pedro is a specialist in the numerical analysis of unsaturated flow and stability for heap leach pads. He has extensive knowledge of various geotechnical engineering software, including - GEO-SLOPE International Ltd., SEEP/W, SIGMA/W, SLOPE/W, QUAKE/W, SLIDE. He has worked on many challenging projects for mining clients, including Yauliyacu (Glencore), El Porvenir (Nexa Resources), Lagunas Norte and Pierina (Barrick), among many others.
Pedro holds a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the National University of Engineering in Peru, a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, and a diploma in International Project Management from ESAN in Peru.
