Pedro is a Pipeline Integrity Engineer with over 5 years of experience in analyzing existing long-distance slurry pipelines and designing new pipelines systems globally. As part of Ausenco’s Pipelines team, he combines his technical knowledge of long-distance slurry pipelines systems with his passion for programming and data-science to develop new tools that improve pipeline integrity, design and maintenance.
As Pipeline Advisor development lead, Pedro is responsible for the continuous development of Ausenco’s Pipeline Advisor software – a real-time leak detection and monitoring solution for slurry, tailings and water pipelines. Pedro’s day to day includes installing the software, providing ongoing client support, developing a software roadmap and implementing new features and capabilities.
Pedro’s experience can be felt on a number of projects past and present including:
- Norsk Hydro – Integrity assessment using inline inspection data (ILI) to determine pipeline replacement plan and repair schedule – 244 km extension.
- Samarco – Pipeline Advisor installation and providing ongoing client support to monitor Samarco's 2nd iron ore concentrate pipeline - 398 km.
- Anglo American – Pipeline Advisor installation and providing ongoing client support to monitor Anglo American’s iron ore concentrate pipeline - 529 km.
- Gerdau – process lead and basic engineer of 4 pipelines in Brazil: 1 concentrate, 1 x 10km return water pipeline, 1 tailings pipelines and 1 x 13km return filtration water pipeline.
Pedro Oliveira holds a Process Engineering degree from PUC Minas and is working towards his MBA in Business Technology from PUC Rio Grande do Sul.
