Rafael is Operations Director of Environment & Sustainability with more than 15 years of experience in civil engineering developing large-scale projects for the mining, infrastructure, and petroleum industries. His experience includes structural & infrastructure engineering, cost engineering, risk assessment, project management and leadership. Based in Peru, his key responsibilities include directing and supervising multidisciplinary teams and monitoring the operational results of different projects, as well reviewing technical proposals, for environmental, geotechnical, water resources and construction support services. His work portfolio includes some of the most pertinent mining projects in Peru, such as San Rafael, Cerro Corona, Zafranal, Magistral, and Antapaccay, amongst others.
One of the key project’s Rafael worked on is the San Rafael underground tin mine located in the province of Puno, Peru. Rafael was responsible for the engineering design & integration for the conceptual studies, permitting process, detailed engineering and construction support for the ore sorting and the paste backfill plant relocation projects. He was also Engineering Manager for the definition (feasibility) study of the B2 TinTailings Reprocessing Project in San Rafael.
