Roald Strand

Practice Leader, Geochemistry, Hemmera

Roald is a Practice Leader that specialises in mine waste and water management.
Vancouver, British Columbia

Roald specialises in mine waste and water management, mine waste weathering (and ARD mitigation), impact assessment, integrated water quality modelling, environmental compliance management and water treatment planning.

Roald is the primary author of water quality equilibration coding in GoldSim, crystalising a step change in technology to facilitate integrated water quality modelling in GoldSim accounting for thermodynamically relevant constraints.

Roald is currently coordinating an international team of tailings engineering and geochemistry experts in developing tailings aging and testing protocols in an effort to address critical information gaps in the empirical method for geotechnical strain assessment for tailings liquefaction.
