As the Director of Sustainability and Climate Risk for North America, Ronan leads a multi-disciplinary team with deep technical expertise in sustainability, GHG (greenhouse gas) management, climate risk, and ESG (environmental, social, governance). He helps clients navigate the complex landscape of evolving regulatory and market pressures relating to sustainability and climate change. This work includes quantifying, reducing, and reporting GHG emissions, assessing and adapting to climate risk, and strengthening sustainability strategy, reporting, and ESG ratings.
Ronan enjoys building high-performing teams and advancing strategy through leadership and collaboration. He holds a master's degree in sustainability, has been a professional project manager (PMP) for over 15 years, and has held LEED AP, Envision SP, and CEM designations.
With a diverse background that began in green building and project management, Ronan established Canada’s first green building materials and construction services firm, facilitating the first LEED certified commercial-residential projects in the country. He spent 14 years with the Port of Vancouver, leading the strategy that positioned Canada's $300 billion Pacific Gateway as a global leader in maritime sustainability.
Ronan has extensive experience leading complex engagement and consultation processes to develop strategies and deliver projects. His work has resulted in several sustainability milestones for Canada’s maritime sector, including leading the first adoption of biofuels, shore power, battery-electric, and hydrogen fuel cell technology in port equipment, trucks, locomotives, and vessels.
