Thomas’ 25-year experience spans from research and development, to engineering design, construction, commissioning, and operations across base metals (copper, cobalt, nickel, zinc), uranium, rare earth metals and coal.
Thomas was part of the development team for the BioNIC and ThermoNIC nickel bacterial leaching processes. He held various roles in the technology, operations and the project departments at the Queensland Nickel Refinery where he developed an intricate knowledge of a wide range of hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes and equipment, including process development, processing capacities and design aspects.
Thomas moved into the engineering design field and developed his design and project management skills working on numerous and varied studies and projects. His work has ranged from high level scoping studies and process selection to detailed design and commissioning, which included the installation of POX autoclaves for copper leaching at Kansanshi in Zambia.
Thomas is a Chartered Engineer (Engineering Council UK) and EUR ING (FEANI).
