Panelists Stephanie Brouwer, Angie Destefano, and Erin Patterson – our Director of Minerals & Metals, discuss gender disparity in the mining industry where, in 2022, only 22% of directors were women.
The panel present strategies to address the gender gap and foster diversity and inclusion – such as programs to not only help people enter the field, but how to support women to move into leadership programs. Topics such as how to create inclusive work environments, reduce bias in hiring, and the vital role of mentorship and allyship in promoting diversity, were also discussed.
One of the most interesting issues raised was the “technical glass ceiling” that women face within STEM roles. The panel gave thoughtful responses and insight into how to address this.
