BC Transit retained Ausenco to provide preliminary and detailed design for the SkyTrain Stadium Station.
This station serves BC Place Stadium, Rogers Arena and the eastern side of Vancouver’s central business district.
The rail tracks are elevated and are supported on prestressed concrete beams. The three platforms are 80 metres in length and are covered by a canopy supported from a structural steel roof system.
This station incorporates a Concourse Building which houses the fare collection area, electronic equipment room, propulsion power substation, concession areas, connection to the Beatty Street pedestrian subway and access to the Dunsmuir train tunnel.
The building is of reinforced concrete construction and makes extensive use of skylights to improve its aesthetic and natural lighting qualities.
