The Dairi Project, located 150 km South of Medan in the Dairi Regency in North Sumatra, Indonesia, involved the design and construction of a 1 Mt/y zinc-lead concentrator and associated infrastructure.
The flowsheet comprised crushing, SAG milling, flotation, concentrate dewatering and tailings placement. When in production, the Dairi Project would have been the only operating zinc-lead mine of significance in Indonesia.
Ausenco was engaged to perform the detailed engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the processing plant and associated infrastructure.
The scope of services included crushing, milling, flotation, concentrate filter and services; paste plant; plant buildings, accommodation camp construction, power station, access roads, tailings dam construction, concentrate storage and ship loading jetty, and upgrade of 22 km government road from Parongil to Sidikalang.
Achievements
- Logistics and freight successfully executed in rainforest site
- Dite layout constraints as a confined site location required to produce two process plants
- Rxtensive earth works to be undertaken in mountainous jungle terrain
Project placed on hold in 2009.
