Ausenco completed a preliminary scoping study for the greenfield development of a bulk storage and export terminal in Cherry Point, Washington, USA.
The proposed terminal is intended to be a combined facility receiving potash in rail cars and calcined coke by conveyor. On site storage will be provided for both products, which will in turn be exported to ocean going vessels at a new wharf facility with separate shiploaders for each product.
Terminal development will be completed in progressive phases to reduce the amount of initial capital investment required.
The study established layouts for the site, developed capital cost estimates based on preliminary drawings to an accuracy of ±25%, and provided an estimate of operating costs for the terminal.
As at 2015, Pacific International Terminals, a subsidiary of SSA Marine is preparing the draft environmental impact statement to be finalised in 2017.
