Due to the potential for a significant release of water even in a moderate earthquake, the Greater Vancouver Water District (GVWD) decided to reconstruct the Little Mountain Reservoir with increased capacity and enhanced reliability.

Ausenco as the prime consultant led a comprehensive team, including 12 specialist sub-consultants, to carry out the detailed design and construction management.

  • 175million litre reservoir with 100 year lifespan
  • Optimisedreservoir capacity
  • Improvedoperational reliability and flexibility

Sustainability principles were drivers throughout the project, including maximising recycling of demolished materials and use of EcoSmartTM concrete.

The project was a recipient of an APEGBC Sustainability Award, a CEBC Award of Excellence in Municipal Engineering, a national ACEC Award of Excellence, and two concrete related awards.
