The new facility consists of a main process building approximately 134'-0" long, 60'-0" wide, x 80'-0" high, and a warehouse distribution building 140'-0" x 80'-0" x 15'-0" high.
The process building has 3 operating floors with intermediate maintenance mezzanines to house all process equipment for the manufacture and sizing of the AZ grains. Equipment includes binds, vibrating feeders, fluid bed dryer, mullers and rotex sizing screens. The facility is equipped with extensive dust collection and effluent treatment systems which maintain an environmentally clean operation.
Some of the production equipment was transferred from Worcester, Mass., refurbished and integrated with selected new pieces of process equipment and storage bins, into an efficient production facility. The entire process is controlled by programmable logic controllers, Allen radley PLC-5/15. Production operators access and control the process through a “Touch Sensitive” video display monitor screen.
This monitor replaces the more conventional mimic board using switches, indicator and annunciation system commonly seen in hard wired control panels.
The project schedule demanded fast tracking for both design and construction. With successful project management, this $6.0 million project was brought in on time and on budget.
