John is a chemical engineer with significant experience in mineral processing and hydrometallurgical operations, research and development and engineering for nickel, cobalt, gold, alumina, copper and rare earths.

He is an inventor or co-inventor of several patents in hydrometallurgical extraction and metal recovery for nickel, cobalt and gold as well as energy recovery in autoclave circuits.

John has also managed at both operating sites and at a corporate level, leading technology and innovation teams focussed on delivering strategic step and transformational metallurgical change to businesses in addition to providing tactical support as needed.

His technical specialties include hydrometallurgy, extractive metallurgy, engineering design and cost estimating, autoclaves, metallurgy team management, nickel and cobalt hydrogen reduction, nickel, cobalt and copper solvent extraction, precipitation, acid neutralisation, milling and classification, thickening and filtration, tailings disposal, modelling of metallurgical processes, mass and energy balances, nickel and cobalt laterite treatment, nickel, cobalt and copper concentrate treatment, METSIM, Due Diligence, Mergers and Acquisitions, High Pressure Acid leach (HPAL) and Pressure Oxidation (POX).

John’s experience covers projects in Australia, Finland, Cuba and PNG as well as numerous study work on projects around the world.
