David is a Principal Mechanical/Piping Engineer with expertise in all facets of mechanical and piping design engineering. He is adept at identifying and developing engineering solutions for clients and is experienced in all stages of the project lifecycle from inception through to design, construction and commissioning. He is highly skilled at flowsheet optimisation and debottlenecking of existing plants to elicit maximum value from a client’s asset. David has undertaken numerous project-based roles as an Engineer, including Engineering Manager and Technical Authority in the mechanical piping space.
Early in his career, David spent a numbers of years undertaking studies, designs and project delivery for Nickel West Assets, namely Kwinana Nickel Refinery and associated concentrators. The remainder of his career has been delivering small to large scale studies and projects in Copper, Gold, Nickel, Alumina, Iron Ore/Magnetite, Rare Earths and Uranium. He has been the responsible Engineer, Lead and Technical Authority for projects on wet plant/concentrators, hydromet facilities/metal refineries, large materials handling facilities, hydraulic analysis for overland slurry and water pipelines, process piping/pump station design including stress/flexibility analysis.
Since joining Ausenco, David has undertaken the role of Principal Mechanical Engineer and Manager of Mechanical Engineer WA and Africa and is responsible for the technical direction and sign off on projects as well as managing, growing and developing the mechanical piping team. David has a passion for mentoring and developing young engineers to create high performing technical teams with supporting and complimentary skill sets.
