Susan’s work has taken her to diverse regions across the globe, ranging from Alberta’s prairies and oil sands to the Canadian Arctic, Peruvian Andes and the Zangezur Mountains in Armenia. Specialising in the human environmental sector, she assesses the socio-economic context of projects and their potential impacts on local and regional communities. Her work involves community, stakeholder and Indigenous engagement, with her expertise spanning the mining, energy and oil and gas sectors.
Susan designs and executes public participation programs, engagement plans, local hiring plans, risk assessments, grievance mechanisms and monitoring plans. She has experience in gender-based analysis as an important component in various studies. Susan also has expertise in due diligence audits for social performance, using standards from the World Bank and the International Labour Organisation.
Susan brings strong communication skills to her work, and is fluent in English, French and Spanish. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Calgary, Alberta, and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. She also has an education diploma from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.
