I am motivated to connect engineering with sustainability and HSE management, transforming complex commitments into ingenious technical solutions that deliver real, lasting value for clients and communities.

Juan is a sustainability and HSE specialist with extensive experience in global operations, ESG strategy and regulatory compliance. He has deep expertise in environmental permitting, health and safety management, risk analysis and stakeholder engagement. His technical background in sustainability and natural resources strengthens his ability to design practical solutions that maximise client value and support responsible development.

Throughout his career, Juan has led comprehensive environmental compliance programs and permitting for mining and industrial projects. In his previous role as Sustainability and ESG Manager for a major lithium project, he prepared and administered all environmental permits, aligned operations with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001 standards, and supported Equator Principles audits. He also developed and delivered HSE and sustainability plans and led government and community engagement.

Juan has managed corporate investment obligations for mining concessions in Mexico, directed exploration activities, and overseen compliance with agencies such as SEMARNAT, CONAGUA, PROFEPA, CONAFOR, STPS, and Protección Civil. He has designed and monitored environmental and safety KPIs aligned with Mexican and MSHA indicators and delivered corporate HSE training programs. His experience also includes environmental impact assessments, flora and fauna rescue programs, baseline studies and environmental risk analysis.

His other key achievements include developing sustainability plans for the municipalities of Huásabas, Bacadéhuachi and Nácori Chico as part of a broader ESG strategy. He identified an alternative site for a chemical processing plant and coordinated a trade-off study that produced significant cost savings while reducing environmental and social impacts. Juan also developed and managed an occupational health and safety management system and environmental management plan that contributed to more than 3.5 million accident‑free man‑hours on a project in Sonora.

Juan holds a biotechnology engineering degree and a master of science in natural resources from the Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora (ITSON) in Mexico, as well as a bachelor’s degree in sustainability from the Universidad de Sonora (UNISON).
