I’m driven by the challenge of transforming seismic risk into resilience through advanced analysis, innovative design, and close collaboration with clients and colleagues.

Behrad is a structural and earthquake engineer with a diverse portfolio spanning the design and analysis of concrete, steel, wood, and masonry structures, as well as seismic retrofits for schools and advanced seismic assessments of both new and existing buildings.

His core expertise includes seismic evaluation and retrofit design, base isolation, design automation, and advanced 3D modelling of complex structures. At Ausenco, Behrad has contributed to several critical infrastructure and resilience projects. Notably, he contributed to the Metro Vancouver Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) Assessment study, which established the foundation for a robust EEW system across regional water infrastructure.

He also led the Fire Hall No. 12 Seismic Retrofit project, developing and evaluating various retrofit schemes to ensure operational continuity during seismic events. His innovative design enabled uninterrupted operation of the fire hall during construction, showcasing his ability to deliver resilient solutions through cross-disciplinary collaboration. Additionally, Behrad played a key role in the Seismic Performance Assessment of the New St. Paul’s Hospital. His work has been published and presented at multiple national and international earthquake engineering conferences, highlighting his advanced analytical capabilities.

Behrad is proficient in a wide range of structural and assessment software, including SAFE, ETABS, SAP2000, S-FRAME, and SP3 Risk Modeling. He holds a Master of Engineering in Structural and Earthquake Engineering from the University of British Columbia and is a registered Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC). He is a recipient of several notable awards, including the BC Housing Building Excellence Research and Education Grant and the SEABC Peeter Ridgway Taylor Grant.
