Ausenco was named a Silver Recipient winner in the category of Mining and Natural Resources at the 2015 Canada’s Safest Employers Awards and Gala in Toronto, Canada on 28 October. Presented annually by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, the event brings together companies from across Canada who are advancing occupational health and safety practices in their industry sector.

Amanda Silliker, editor of Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, acknowledged that it was the second time Ausenco had been honoured with a silver award in this category, demonstrating the company’s unwavering commitment to exceptional safety standards and programs. “We continue to be inspired by companies such as Ausenco, who fully engage their workforce, clients and contractors through initiatives and activities that keep HSEC top of mind,” Ms Silliker said.

Simon Cmrlec, President of Ausenco’s North America region, was on-hand to receive the award. He expressed gratitude to all who contributed to this achievement, saying, “This award is shared by all Ausenco personnel, who embrace and live our ‘Zero Harm’ philosophy. We truly believe Zero Harm is achievable and strive to achieve an incident-free work environment by implementing controls, following guidelines and adopting a proactive approach to risk and hazard management.”

The title of “Canada’s Safest Employer” is awarded based on the assessment of various health and safety components, including employee training, OHS management systems and innovative health and safety initiatives.
