At the 10th Congreso Relaves Peru 2025, Ausenco presented the MTM-TSF tool, designed to identify tailings project management maturity, assess risks, and support strategic decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
Lima, November 2025.- Global engineering and consulting firm Ausenco presented the MTM-TSF (Multidisciplinary Technical Maturity for Tailings Storage Facilities) tool, developed to improve tailings project management through a multidisciplinary and traceable approach that covers all aspects from technical design to closure and community relations.
The presentation, given by Marcella García, Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Ausenco, took place during the 10th Tailings Congress, one of the region's leading specialized events. During her presentation, Marcella explained that the tool was designed by Ausenco to integrate different thematic areas in a structured and verifiable way, allowing for the identification of tailings maturity and risks to support strategic decisions in all phases of the project.
"The MTM-TSF combines conceptual frameworks that are widely accepted in the mining industry and in project management. It uses a multidisciplinary approach to not only facilitate a more accurate understanding of the technical status of each initiative but also promotes collaboration between teams and raises safety and sustainability standards," said García.
The methodology, tested in a large-scale project, has proven to be a replicable and practical tool that can be adapted to a wide range of projects with different technical, social, geographical, and regulatory contexts.
For his part, Rafael Figari, Earth & Environment Director at Ausenco, highlighted that these types of tools reflect the company's commitment to preventive management and innovation applied in mining.
"In an increasingly challenging environment, the key is to anticipate risks and transform technical information into timely decisions. Tools such as MTM-TSF allow us to strengthen planning, optimize resources, and ensure a more resilient and sustainable operation," he said.
It is important to note that in addition to its technical participation, Ausenco was part of the Congress as a sponsor and had a networking space to share experiences with colleagues, clients, and strategic allies in the sector, reaffirming its leadership in promoting best practices and integrated solutions for tailings management.
