Ausenco has again been recognized as one of Canada’s safest employers at the Canadian Safety Awards Gala held October 24th, in Toronto, Canada. The annual gala, hosted by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, unites companies from across Canada who are leaders in promoting occupational health and safety practices in their fields. Ausenco was a silver award recipient in the mining and natural resources category at the event.
“This is the third time Ausenco has been awarded silver in this category – a reflection of the strong health and safety culture embraced by the company and its employees,” said Amanda Silliker, editor of Canadian Occupational Safety magazine.
The award process examines each company’s safety performance and audits employee engagement through an Employee Safety Perception survey. The survey results demonstrate how well the organization has communicated health and safety issues, and to what extent employees embrace these values.
“We are incredibly proud of our employees who demonstrate their commitment to Zero Harm on a daily basis,” said Simon Cmrlec, President, North America. “This award recognizes the continued efforts of our people for being ‘Safety Citizens’ who ensure that they, and their colleagues, are safe in whatever environment they are working in and always encourage others to make safe and healthy choices too. It is the quality of our people and their ongoing ‘Safety in all we do’ approach that has been acknowledged by this industry-wide award.”
Canadian Occupational Safety magazine is the most widely-read publication on occupational health and safety in Canada, focusing on everything from office to heavy industry and general safety management to specific workplace hazards.
The title of “Canada’s Safest Employer” is awarded based on the assessment of various health and safety components, including employee training, OHS management systems, and innovative health and safety initiatives.
