Who is Ausenco’s trainee program for?
Ausenco has been running its Trainee Program in Brazil for over five years. Aimed at recent graduates in various fields of engineering and geology, the program aims to help them build their careers at Ausenco. This goal has become a reality, given that many participants choose to stay at Ausenco and continue to grow their careers at the company .
What can participants expect from the program
The program lasts three years and offers participants comprehensive work and practical opportunities, with the support of experienced managers and mentors, in a collaborative environment open to innovation. Ausenco trainees participate in job rotation, meaning they rotate through various business areas of the company to get to know Ausenco and its work dynamics. They may also perform fieldwork, which provides practical experience and a deeper understanding of the mining industry. It is also possible to undertake an international rotation at one of the company’s 21 offices in nine countries.
More than just selecting the best professionals in the market and developing them, Ausenco’s Trainee Program shapes the career paths of its participants. Hear from three recent participants of the program and learn what their experience was like.
From Trainee to Leadership
Arthur Bax

“I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and am part of Ausenco’s first cohort of trainees, the class of 2021.
One of the program’s strengths, in my opinion, is the freedom we have to work in the areas of greatest interest throughout the program, while obviously also considering the company’s needs. The rotations are long; we spend four to six months in one area, depending on the work we’re doing. This doesn’t happen at other companies. Usually, trainees rotate through all areas in a month, and then the professional settles permanently in their field. Here, we have options, and we can develop in that area for a few months.
During my last rotation, I had an excellent opportunity that was an international experience: participating in the commissioning process of a copper plant in Chile. The opportunity arose from the contacts I made with leaders during the program. It was a tremendous learning experience, and I believe few companies offer this.
When the program ended, I stayed at the Chile office for a while and then asked to return to Brazil, where I took on the role of project manager.
Ausenco continues to invest in my career, and I am currently participating in an international leadership development program, the Ausenco Leadership Development Program. I am very happy to have been identified as a potential leader with leadership potential to be trained. It is an important opportunity, and I see it as a continuation of all the preparation I received in the Trainee Program.”
Integrated and Strategic Vision

“I have a degree in mechanical engineering and have been halfway through Ausenco’s Trainee Program for a year and a half*. From the selection process onward, the company has shown that it seeks the best way to do things. The selection process was quick compared to others I participated in at the time. The feedback I received was high-quality and detailed, and I could see this especially during the group dynamics.
I’m currently in my third rotation*. My first rotation was in Project Control, focused on a more managerial area, unlike what I had done up to that point. It was very interesting because I discovered another side of engineering. My second rotation was in Business Development, in the Commercial area. I leveraged the skills I developed during my first rotation, using them to improve my work in the next rotation. Currently, I’m in a more technical rotation, in Pipelines. I’ve been interacting more with the team in Chile. It’s been a very enriching technical experience. I’ll still have other rotations. I don’t know how many, because they depend on the demand for each discipline and the profile of each trainee.
Ausenco’s Trainee Program gives us a very interesting strategic perspective. We get to know the entire company and understand the importance of collaboration across departments for the work we’ll deliver to clients.
In addition, the program is highly valued by Ausenco’s senior leadership. Every time they visit the Belo Horizonte office, we have the opportunity to meet them and talk. We have a slot on their schedule to hear about their experiences and ask questions. This networking is very important in the Trainee Program.”
The Best Choice
Júlia Oliveira
**Interview conducted in April 2026

I’m a chemical engineer who graduated 1 year and 2 months ago—exactly how long I’ve been at Ausenco. In fact, on my first day at the company, I had to leave early to attend my graduation ceremony, which made that start even more memorable.
I applied to other trainee programs and was accepted at another company. But Ausenco was always my first choice, because of the program’s structure. The opportunity to work in different areas over three years, learn from leaders, and interact with international offices made the choice clear. Additionally, the prospects for professional development and career advancement were a key factor.
I am currently in my second year of the program, on my second rotation in the Earth & Environment area, within Global Consulting, focusing on Water Resources and the Environment. It has been enriching to get to know Ausenco through this other line of business as well, which has broadened my perspective on the company, its services, and the various opportunities within mining and consulting.
My first rotation was in Mineral Processing, within Minerals & Metals, where I had a very positive experience. I find the area extremely interesting from a technical standpoint. For me, Mineral Processing is the heart of mining, as it is directly linked to the transformation of mineral resources and the generation of value for the business.
I’ve already had a few opportunities to work with professionals from other Ausenco offices. More recently, I’ve been working with the geochemistry lead, Elber Pucuhuayla, and the mine closure lead, Giselle Vera, both from the Peru office. This exchange has been very valuable, both for the technical learning and for the opportunity to collaborate with professionals from different countries.
My entire professional development takes place in a very welcoming, collaborative environment that fosters continuous learning. Ausenco’s Trainee Program was, without a doubt, one of the best choices I could have made at the start of my career.
