With over 30 years of global experience optimizing concentrator plant designs, Ausenco recently delivered one of the most capital-efficient facilities of its class for Capstone Copper.
Santiago, November 2024 – Mantoverde marks a milestone for Chile's mining industry, playing a pivotal role in supplying copper, a critical mineral for global development. Ausenco led the engineering, procurement, and construction of the copper concentrator plant and related infrastructure, ensuring that timelines and budgets were met but also delivering exceptional efficiency, safety, and quality.
“Mantoverde is a world-class project that will play a key role in supplying copper, a critical mineral, while driving the mining industry in Chile. Seeing Mantoverde complete today, we are proud to have worked with Capstone Copper to deliver a project that sets a new standard in the country,” said Zimi Meka, Ausenco’s CEO.
The project stands out for its cost-effective and innovative design. A streamlined and unique plant layout reduced the project’s total footprint by 35% compared to typical designs in Chile, minimizing land use, steel, and concrete, and reducing environmental impact. Additionally, Mantoverde's copper plant construction costs are approximately half those of similar projects in the region.
Leveraging its extensive expertise, Ausenco integrated best practices and high-quality equipment to ensure operational uptime and reliability throughout the plant's lifecycle. Mantoverde not only sets a new benchmark for Chilean mining but also reinforces the global leadership of Chile's mining industry.
