Gerson’s technical project repertoire includes both on and offshore experience in Chile and various areas of Brazil. He specializes in conceptual design and leveraging data to deliver solutions that reduce carbon emissions and reduce risks. Looking at proof of concept and the application of data science, he uses analytical tools and risk assessments to find the best way to transport and reduce carbon emissions for projects. Working for several international clients, he understands complex projects and portfolios. He has held various positions within the mining industry, including Project Manager, Team Leader, Integration Specialist, Senior Engineer, Business Improvement Specialist, Risk and Compliance Manager, and Innovation Center Program Manager.
As part of our Transportation and Logistics group based in Santiago, Gerson looks at the entire mining value chain to create value realization for our clients. He is well-versed in multidisciplinary and global team management, obtaining his Project Management Professional (PMP) and Scrum Master certifications. Skilled in strategic and tactical coaching, he focuses on creating knowledgeable and successful project teams. He is committed to finding a better way to solve problems by prioritizing innovation. Leveraging this expertise, he creates opportunities to increase project and environmental sustainability.
He graduated from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil with a Bachelor of Engineering in Control and Automation. Gerson then obtained postgraduate diplomas in Mineral Processing, Predictive Modelling and Machine Learning, and Business Management and Mining Operations from Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto in Brazil and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Chile.
