A centralized high quality, low cost approach
By Fraser Johnstone, Manager, Drafting & Engineering Design Systems
For efficient project execution, Ausenco recognizes the importance of establishing high quality process design and associated data at an early stage, and in a consistent manner, across all projects. Our goal is to offer clients certainty in quality, cost, and timely delivery of a fundamental information source which is critical to successful project execution and delivery. As this approach is used consistently across our projects globally, these projects and associated data become visible, and provide opportunity for analysis and comparison. This provides the capability to make informed strategic decisions around data use and development.
To achieve this objective, we employ key tools such as high quality software solutions, capability matrices for work share across multiple office locations, the reuse of existing designs & system setups - to facilitate continuous improvement in productivity and quality, and similar start-up strategies for new projects. This approach has also proven to be both scalable and flexible.
Our approach ensures a common build and data integrity across projects. This is a requirement for interfacing and integration with other project engineering design systems, and downstream applications such as construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance, client information systems e.g. SAP etc.
After establishment of the project P&IDs, database & reports, the P&ID project can be transferred (including remote user training) to the local project team for their use from start through to project completion.
Ask us how we have been able to use this approach successfully on several projects across multiple locations.
