Derek is a Senior Project Manager based in Vancouver, Canada. Over the course of his career, he has been recognized for his solid understanding of design management and construction activities, including environmental, permitting, and geotechnical services; safety and labour issues; quality assurance and codes; and project controls and scheduling.

Throughout his career, Derek has managed major engineering projects worth up to $600 million. This includes the Port Mann Water Supply Tunnel for Metro Vancouver (Canada), where he oversaw Engineer of Record (EoR) construction support services for a 1 km long, 2.8 m ID segmental lined tunnel with 2.1 m ID carrier pipe. He also managed the detailed design consultants for the 100,000 m3/d Quebrada Blanca Phase II Seawater Desalination Plant for Teck Resources (Chile) and the 140,000 m3/d Seawater Desalination Plant for CITIC Pacific Mining's Sino Iron Project (Australia).

Derek's work highlights his proactive, multi-disciplinary approach, which focuses on achieving high quality results and delivering optimized construction methods through effective coordination with multiple engineering design consultants, facility contractors and project owners.

Derek holds a B.A.Sc. in mechanical engineering from the University of British Columbia in Canada, he is a registered Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, and an active member of the Project Management Institute.
