Passionate about the art and science of bulk materials, I thrive on finding solutions for the safe transfer, handling and storage of crucial assets and commodities, from the mine pit to the cargo hold of ships.

Michael leads the materials handling team in transportation, mining, ports and terminals and transshipment projects around the globe.

He is responsible for technical excellence in designing and optimizing material handling systems from the mine pit to the end customer, focusing on transport, including, ports and terminals, and inspiring our people to find better ways to overcome project challenges.

Michael has experience handling diverse materials, including coal, potash, grain, hard rock mining, oil sands, iron ore, manganese and mineral concentrates. Utilising and continually expanding his experience, he is also actively leading projects, including the recent successful completion of Teck’s Quebrada Blanca II greenfield port project in Chile, and Las Chispas Silver Mine project in Mexico.

Michael has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with honors from the University of Wollongong, Australia.
