Omar specialises in developing asset management solutions. He provides maintenance strategies, asset management models, maintenance management assessments, asset integrity analysis, Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) modelling and analysis and operational readiness support. He has held various project roles, including asset management consultant engineer, maintenance planner, mechanical maintenance manager and project engineer.
Currently, Omar is the regional technical leader for asset optimisation in South America at Ausenco. In this role, he is responsible for defining, promoting and implementing standardised corporate processes, procedures, and best practices across asset management projects, ensuring the technical quality and consistency of deliverables for ongoing work in the region.
Omar has participated in asset integrity evaluation projects for clients such as Codelco and BHP, evaluating asset conditions and recommending actions for repair or restoration to ensure optimal performance. He has also developed solutions for asset management processes, focusing on maintenance tactics, operational readiness, and reliability and maintainability analysis. His experience spans various mining industry operations, such as concentrator plants, crushing plants, and Electrowinning (EW) plants, among others.
He obtained his degree in mechanical civil engineering from Universidad de Tarapacá in Arica, Chile.
